SUMMARY :
Scientific AIAS is a private non-profit organization. It was established in 1954 and has 177 branches all over Italy.
The Milan branch was established in 1960 and together with other branches
in Lombardy is part of the “AIAS ombardy Regional Committee.
AIAS Milano was born as an Association of friends and parents of
encephalopatic children in order to arrange for the prevention and care
of problems connected with the result of child encepphalopathy. For
thirty years its efforts have been addressed to the experimentation and
application of rehabilitation which were gradually developed at both
national and international level, but then the need for a global vision
of existential problems of the encephalopatic child has proved to be
keener and keener.
Today AIAS is an Association of people feeling
the need to activity contribute to the solution of urgent problems in
the general frame of handicap, problems which can hardly be solved at
individual levels but are probably easier at Association level.
We can thus offer a vaste range of activities, organized into services,
which are carries out in the two seats in Via Paolo Montegazza 10, in
Via San Barnaba 29 and in the sample flat in Via Saponara 38.
In the first seat it has been created and progressively extended a Medical
out-patient Centre where medical and rehabilitation therapies are
offered (within the national health service).
The second seat is that of the Milan branch which has created long ago a series of
services, run by operators and volunteers, above all for adult and
adolescent handicapped, even seriously ill.
Individual responsibles in charge of these services are always ready to supply
further information and explanations within their own competences.
