SUMMARY :
Mediander is a network of nine service providers, active in education, care and support for people with a learning disability. As group we want to organise a differentiated and personalised care offer. Important issues are integration and inclusion, client steered service providing and development of new services.
it consists of:
· The Schoolcommunity Sint Franciscus
o BuBaO Sint Franciscus en BuLO Sint Franciscus: Special Primary Education
o BuSO Sint Franciscus: Special Secondary Education, offers also vocational training (branches: horticulture, industrial cleaning, textile maintenance, industrial cooking)
· The Schoolcommunity Sint-Mariadal
o BKO-BLO Sint-Mariadal: Special Primary Education
o BuSO Sint-Mariadal: Special Secondary Education.
Total capacity of the schools: 640 students and 140 teachers.
· MPI Sint-Franciscus and MPI Oosterlo : both provide for about 400 people (220 employees):
o A boarding school for youngsters with a mild, moderate or severe learning disability
o A semi-boarding school for children and youngsters with a moderate, severe or multiple disability
o A day-care centre for children not able to go to school
o A home for adults able to work.
· Zonnelied and Zonnestraal: homes and day care centres for people with a moderate to severe learning disability. Zonnestraal pays special attention for elderly people with a disability including those with dementia. In total they provide services for about 280 persons. 210 employees are working here.
Mediander also set up different innovative initiatives. A formation and training centre for people with a disability was established, called “Het Grote Plein”. To make socially integrated leisure activities possible, an organisation for leisure time guidance was established, called ‘t Kruispunt. There are also work inclusion projects.
