The Learning Disabilities Specialist Health facility ‘The Ridge Hill Centre’ provides a specialist assessment, therapy and treatment centre within the community from where a range of specialist health services for people who have a learning disability are co-ordinated and delivered. This service provides and promotes multi-disciplinary team and joint working arrangements with Clinicians and support staff in a modern environment designed to provide facilities for people with Learning Disabilities whose needs are specific and complex.

The emphasis within the ‘Ridge Hill Centre’ is to provide specialist therapeutic services, with a remit of assisting people with a learning disability in a person centred way to maintain their community presence whilst receiving appropriate specialist interventions and support.

The Learning Disability Specialist Health Services are provided by a range of health professionals,

The Specialist Health Service has clinical staff teams based within the ‘Ridge Hill Centre’ which include

• Clinical Psychologists.
• Dysphagia Specialists
• Nurses (including specialists in challenging behaviour, epilepsy, mental health and health facilitation).
• Occupational Therapists.
• Physiotherapists.
• Psychiatrists.
• Older Adults Specialists
• Speech and Language Therapists
• Support staff - Health Care Assistants and Administrative/ Secretarial

The Ridge Hill Centre also provides facilities for :

Admission for assessment and therapy (6 beds - 5 beds currently open)
Specialist short stay. (2 beds)
Reintegration services. (2 beds)

A Hydrotherapy suite
Therapy rooms
A Training facility with a Library/IT Resource
Consulting Rooms
